The Real Inspector Hound

The Real Inspector Hound

Some time ago I was asked to write music for a play. I was really scared because I hadn’t written any for 3 years. Frankly speaking, my musical carrier is in stagnation now – I do a lot of programming instead. Nevertheless, I was really excited. Will I be able to remember those good old days, where each journey through the subway with manuscript paper and pen brought a couple of new melodies? Is this the end of my musical carrier or just required rest before a new opportunity? Many questions with no answers so far.

Victory

Victory

This one dedicated to my first software company “CINIMEX” — they hired me as Java Developer even though i didn’t have experience in this field, for what i’m very gratefull.
Once, before several months to New Year, the letter was send to all employees, announcing NY talent show challenge. Those who wanted to participate in it, were asked to shoot small video (up to 3 minutes), and then, at the NY corporate party, the winner will be chosen. The grand prize was Samsung S6.

Piece, written for 23 musicians, accumulates all of the beloved stuff) — the idea of intro was taken from Avantasia — The Wicked Symphony (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wO3KAdnrGJw), than comes ROCKy pentatonic riff, main themes were written in the “trailer music” style, what is my favorite at the moment.

Inspiration

Inspiration

Piece was written for our music theory group concert that never took place, for 23 musicians. This one is in the so called “trailer music” style, and is tribute to the one of the best composers of this ganre – Thomas Bergensen (Two Steps from Hell). The begging written in the Phoenix – Fall out Boy style (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hDZbroaQDc), just liked it)

Scarecrow’s Song

Scarecrow’s Song

This one was chosen to accounting concert of our music theory group by my teacher, so we have life video. Unfortunatly, for reasons beyond my control, musicians were chosen in night before the consert, so one can hear a lot of mess. Well, I was angry) but guys did sight reading in real time, so they can be forgiven. The idea of the main theme was written in style of the one of my favorite bands – Avantasia. Scarecrow (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-PkfKZAT6E). Origin intro was analyzed and style was replicated. When it was finished i caught myself on similarity with the original, but hell I liked it! So, technically notes are different so i don’t care. One of my favorites.

Biosphere

Biosphere

My second. Was written when i was working in Absolut Bank. The only time that i had for that one – is everyday subway and most precious 20 minutes saved from the lunch time.
Unlike the others, this one is written “first write, than think” way, so while i was working on it I didn’t think about form and i had no idea where and how it’s gonna end. Well, I thought I did my best that time, so i leave the listener to judge 😉 Was gently sampled for me by Andrew Sasinowski in that time when I didn’t have skill to do it myself.

Restless Mind

Restless Mind

This is the first quartet full composition of mine (which was harrassed by my music teacher (Lavrov A.V.) by the way). Like most of my scores this one was combined from many short melodies written in subway on everyday trip to the work. Base could be better, but it is the first one, and I had (and still have) so much to learn…
