In February 2016 MIDAS presentes new play called ‘Life.Rehearsed’, written by modern dramaturg Peter Heavenheld.
For this play, i was asked to write a theme and arrange it in several genres.
Main theme was composed in St. Petersburg on my vacs, so unlike most of my pieces it was written using instrument rather than sheet and pencil – and that determines the fact that main theme is guitar theme.
Also, in music rider for play there was request for big band jazz and epic arrangement. I didn’t use exactly the same theme for these purposes – for example to compose jazz variation i had to change metre from originally 3/4 to 4/4. Nevertheless i tried not going far to maintain arrangement main theme recognizable.
The last theme was intended to emphasize the death of the main character in the end of the play so i’ve used string quartet and as less instrument movement as possible.
Despite on that not all composed material was used on actual performance i had a great time and experience sharpen my skill of arrangement same material in different genres.
